Wondai P-9 State School is located in the town of Wondai in the South Burnett Region of Queensland, approximately 3hrs from Brisbane, 2hrs from the Sunshine Coast and 2hrs from Toowoomba. Wondai is proud to be part of the Darling Downs South West Educational Region.
The school caters for a wide range of families with diverse backgrounds. Families live both within the town and on the outskirts on acreage blocks or farms. A number of families travel from neighbouring towns to enrol their children at our school.
Our school caters for students from Prep to Yr-9, with our high school section of the school (Yrs 7-9) offering an array of subjects for students to engage in. Our staff are highly dedicated professionals who are extremely proud to call Wondai School their home. Our school has very little staff changeover and we believe that is a direct reflection on our school, our families and our community.
We often refer to our school as the “Little Big School" as we are not big in numbers, but we make up for that in our “Big Thinking" and willingness to challenge the norms to ensure our children have the very best learning opportunities so they are able to live a life of choice and not a life of chance.
Our three pillars of Educational Support, Wellbeing and Engagement, and Culture and Inclusion directly reflect the initiatives of Education Queensland. Our locally developed 3R's Program – Regulate, Reset and Re-Engage ensure that our children take total responsibility for their own behaviour. Our sharp and narrow focus around Literacy is deliberate and targeted and ensures our focus is on our children doing the very best they can.
As the principal, I am happy to take calls and answer any questions. I also have immense pride in our school and would love nothing more than to give families and their children a personal tour – you won't be disappointed.
Yours In Education,
Peter Sansby - Principal
